This Myott Art Deco Moderne Vase stands 21.7cm (8.5 inches) tall and is 12.7cm (5 inches) wide. The pattern displays orange flowers with green foliage and base with a vignette effect in brown and yellow to the upper part of the piece. The Moderne Vase is more commonly known as a ‘Pyramid’, ‘Star’ or ‘Finger’ Vase and was introduced in 1933 to appeal to the Christmas market.
The Moderne Vase is stamped with the rarer H(B) Ltd. mark (which I believe was also used on Clarice Cliff ceramics) along with HAND PAINTED and MADE IN ENGLAND in a russet colour. There is a pattern number 8669 and a painter’s mark hand lettered in brown. The piece is in very good condition with just a few areas of paint loss. There is no crazing to this vase.
Pictures of this actual Moderne Vase were supplied to Millers Collectables Price Guide 2008 and you can see the printed pictures on page 112 along with some of the other Myott Art Deco ceramics featured on the MyottMart website.
